Today, Noah’s Ark Patron Catherine Zeta Jones visited the Children’s Hospital to make the exciting announcement that the hospital is to be renamed as Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales.
Unveiling the new name, Catherine said “As Patron of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, I can truly express my delight in the recognition that has been given to our charity and more importantly to all of our supporters that have given so generously. I feel that they share in this celebration having more than played a full part to make this hospital a reality. This new name is recognition for every moment of hard work, every penny that has been donated.”
Catherine explained that the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity will have a new official name “Our own charity name has changed to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity so that people new to Wales or new to us as supporters will more easily understand that our charity and the hospital are two halves of one team each sharing the same goal – to provide world-class care for sick children in need of specialist and life-saving care.”
Lyn Jones, Chairman of Noah’s Ark echoed Catherine’s comments saying; “The hospital’s new name is a landmark in our fundraising campaign. To date, many people have worked tirelessly to provide children in Wales with the best facilities and equipment available and I believe that this recognition will spur everyone into continuing to fundraise for Phase Two.
We are very proud of what we have achieved with the help and support of the people of Wales. We are indeed very proud that Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has chosen to honour us in this way. May we continue to work successfully together to provide a great future for those in need.”
Minister for Health and Social Services, Lesley Griffiths AM said; “I support the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales being known in future as the Noah’s Ark Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales in recognition of the charity’s support and tireless fundraising in the past, present and future.”
Paul Hollard, Deputy Chief Executive said; “The charity has worked tirelessly to raise millions to benefit sick children in Wales. We acknowledge the magnificent contribution from the Welsh Government who will meet the £64million capital costs to build the Second Phase of this Hospital and look forward to continue working in partnership with Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity who have committed to raising an additional £8million to provide cutting-edge and innovative equipment.”
