Teaming up this Christmas, strong Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity supporters Jagger and Woody from Heart FM and the cast of the New Theatre’s Cinderella brought much-needed Christmas cheer to the young patients at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales.
Cinderella, Prince Charming and Buttons helped Jagger and Woody to deliver sacks of presents to the play specialists at the hospital as part of the charity’s annual Christmas Stocking Appeal. This year’s wish list from the hospital included toys, games and equipment which will benefit children on the wards, in the therapy rooms and in the playrooms. In addition to this, money raised by the Christmas Stocking Appeal will also go towards specialist equipment for the new Critical Care Unit in Phase Two which is due to open in Spring 2015.
For most of us Christmas is a time for family and friends, gifts, eating and having fun; however, for young patients and their families who are forced to spend the time at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital it often doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. Because of this Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity and the team at the hospital put on a number of events throughout December to bring the Christmas cheer. Each year the charity asks the hospital to make a wish list of gifts that are needed to benefit all children on the wards throughout the year. By making a donation to the Christmas Stocking Appeal supporters have helped purchase this wish list which includes arts and craft materials, toys, games and DVD players to benefit children on the wards, in the therapy rooms and in the playrooms.
In addition to this, money raised by the Christmas Stocking Appeal will also go towards specialist equipment for the new Critical Care Unit in Phase Two which will treat the most vulnerable and seriously ill children admitted to the hospital.
2014’s appeal has been extremely successful with fantastic support from the Welsh public as well as groups and companies. Just some of this year’s supporters include; Las Iguanas Cardiff, Natwest, St David’s Dewi Sant, Sainsbury’s Thornhill, LoveFilm, Howells School, Kelvin Francis, International Greetings, Ysgol Gymraeg Caerfilli, Hamleys, Hasbro and YBS Group Newport.
Suzanne Mainwaring, Director of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity said; “I am so pleased with the tremendous support we have once again received for the Noah’s Ark Christmas Stocking Appeal. It’s a fantastic way for everyone to help the children at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales, not just for Christmas but for years to come.”
The Charity was also delighted to be welcoming Glamorgan Cricket Club to the hospital on Wednesday the players visited the children and gifted them with lots of cricket gifts. Glamorgan Cricket Club have pledged their support to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity for 2015 and are kick starting with this fantastic Christmas visit.
