Dame Shirley in the leopard print dress auctioned

A Dame Shirley Bassey leopard print maxi dress was auctioned Friday 8th April to raise funds for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity. The dress was worn by Dame Shirley Bassey at the 2008 Pride of Britain Awards and accompanies an autographed picture of the Diva wearing the gown.

A departure from her usual beaded evening gown the Blumarine Cruise maxi dress was bid for by dedicated Dame Shirley Bassey fan Marilyn Meisels. Marilyn travelled to Cardiff for the event from London where she lives with her husband, Alfred.

The Blumarine dress was auctioned at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity’s charity ball hosted by the Copthorne Hotel, which raised over £5,000 for the charity. All the guests at the Ball were treated to a beautiful three course meal and entertainment from the Copthorne’s theatre group, who showcased their Motown routine. A big thank you goes to Lucy Morris the Meeting and Events Assistant Manager at the hotel for all her hard work organising such a wonderful event.

Dame Shirley Bassey is again supporting the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity in May as she becomes Godmother to Britain’s latest cruise ship. Dame Shirley is to be Godmother to Adonia, the latest addition to the P&O Cruises fleet and to mark the event is donating her fee to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity for Phase Two of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales.

Dame Shirley will name the stylish ship in a glittering ceremony in Southampton on Saturday 21st May,2011. Dame Shirley said; “I have had the most exciting career imaginable, but to be Godmother to a cruise ship is something very special and very personal.”

Chairman of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, Lyn Jones said; “We are very proud of Dame Shirley Bassey becoming Godmother of Adonia and we are delighted that she once again shows her continued support for our charity. She is a truly dedicated patron.”
