Charlotte Church with Mr and Mrs Claus deliver presents to the patients and staff of the Children's Hospital for Wales

The Christmas spirit was truly alive at the Children’s Hospital for Wales this morning. Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity Patron, Charlotte Church surprised children and staff when she joined Mr and Mrs Claus to hand out presents bought by our Christmas Stocking Appeal.

With carols playing and smiles beaming the Christmas Stocking Appeal brought all the joy we at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity wished for to the Children’s Hospital for Wales at this festive time.

The Noah’s Ark Christmas Stocking Appeal has been raising money to buy a special wish list of gifts that young patients want for their play rooms and therapy rooms.  Gifts given today included portable DVD players, which will keep children who are too sick to go to the playrooms entertained and take their mind off their illness. A portion of the money raise by the Christmas Stocking Appeal will also go towards a gift the hospital really needs – a hydrotherapy pool!

Charlotte was delighted to show her support for this important Christmas campaign saying; ‘As a mother, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have your babies in hospital at all but especially at Christmas. The Christmas Stocking Appeal is a fantastic way for everyone to treat the children at the Children’s Hospital for Wales, not just for Christmas but for years to come.’

‘I’m delighted the appeal has been so successful raising over £7,500 with the expectation that it will reach £10,000 once all donations have been collected.’

She continued; ‘I love coming to this place. It has such a great atmosphere, it’s a great hospital. I love being able to visit and meet some of the staff and the children who benefit from the work of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity and to bring some cheer for the children.’

Suzanne Mainwaring, Director of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity said; ‘We are thrilled the Christmas Stocking Appeal has been such a success and would like to thank everyone who has been involved. Such as timto.co.uk, Legal and General, the Orchid Group and Albany Primary School Cardiff to name but a few, along with all the individuals who kindly donated to the appeal.’
