‘Give while you earn’, or payroll giving as it’s also known, is an easy way to donate money tax-free.

How do I donate?

Simply speak to your payroll department and see if your workplace is signed up to a payroll giving scheme. If they are just, let them know how much you would like to donate to us and this will be deducted from your salary before tax.

And as a UK tax payer your gift will cost you less. For example, if you donate £5 the tax man will pay £1 of this, meaning your gift will only cost you £4. And if you are a higher rate tax payer you will pay less.

How to leave a gift in your will

Once you decide to make a Will, we recommend you use a solicitor. Professional advice is less expensive than you might think and having a valid and accurate Will can give real peace of mind.

Choose the type of gift you want to leave

There are a four main ways to leave a gift for us in your Will.

• A residual gift is the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been deducted. This ensures that your loved ones are remembered first.
• A pecuniary gift is a gift of a specific amount of money. Ask your solicitor to index link this gift to ensure that inflation will not reduce its value over time.
• A specific request is a gift of a named item such as a painting.
• A contingent benefit is a gift that is dependent on other factors such as outliving all other beneficiaries.

Important information to remember

To ensure that the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity is included in your Will, you must include the details listed below. Give these details to your solicitor when you are drafting or amending your Will.

Making a change to your Will

If you have an existing Will but would like to leave a gift to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity then you will need to complete a Codicil. This document allows you to make changes or additions to an existing Will without having to pay for your Will to be re-written. If you need to make a more significant change to your Will we recommend you speak to your solicitor and consider having your Will redrafted.

Remember a loved one and support the hospital by donating in memory. We truly appreciate people thinking about the hospital at this very difficult time.

If you would like to donate in memory there are two ways very simple ways you can do this:

1. Ask people to donate to the charity instead of bringing flowers. Envelopes for collections can be requested from the office
2. Create a tribute fund – Setting up a tribute fund is a generous way of remembering your loved one. Please contact Linda to discuss your options.

Asking your family and friends to donate to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales instead of bringing gifts is a fabulous way to raise money.

For more information on setting up a Gift in Celebration account or to order envelopes for donations you are collected in person, please contact the office.

You may prefer to send a physical gift such as a toy or digital piece of equipment like an IPad or tablet. We are able to pass on these items to children at the hospital. Please contact the office to arrange a drop off.

Items we are regretfully NOT able to accept on behalf of patients:

• Soft toys – for hygiene reasons we are not able to accept these but they can be donated to our charity shop.
• Please think carefully before buying things like chocolate. Many of the children here are poorly and it is important to consider healthy dietary needs.

We really appreciate gifts that can be raffled or auctioned to raise money for the hospital. In addition donations for the Noah’s Ark charity shop located in the main entrance are warmly welcomed. Please contact the office to arrange a drop off.

Our community charity shop is open for business once again, selling good quality pre- loved clothing as well as accessories, toys, books and entertainment items like DVDs and CDs.

Our current opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm and we welcome donations during these times. There is a lay by and a bus stop outside the shop for convenience.
